Special Projects
KGATELOPELE
"Progress"
The Johannesburg City Municipality's Best Supplier Initiative.
About the initiative
Service delivery in most major South African cities is, to a great extent, affected by delivery of poor service & products by some suppliers. On the same score those suppliers that deliver great service and products to the cities assist in ensuring that the mammoth task of service delivery within local municipalities happens.
The City of Johannesburg wishes to, through a publication called “Kgatelopele” (Progress) and a glittering gala dinner, recognise suppliers to the city that continue to supply quality products and services within set time frames.
African ID Holdings (Pty) Ltd has been nominated by the city to produce a publication and stage the gala dinner that will not only celebrate these organisations but will also serve as a directory of good potential service and product providers to other government departments and private sector organisations.
The Gala Dinner Event
The gala dinner event will be held at a suitable venue on the 29th of November 2007. The aim of the event is to reward those suppliers who have given the city the best service through their sector categories. Nominations will be done by the procurement manager of the city and those of the 15 entities that makes up the city administration i.e. Egoli Gas, Metrobus, City Power, Johannesburg Fresh Produce Market, Johannesburg Water, Pikitup etc. The occasion will be about the city so we found it necessary to involve the following V.I.P. guest speakers to share their views about service delivery at local government and municipality level.
The Publication
A glossy, US letter size publication with a mat finish cover complete with embossed images and logos. The pages are clean with an abundance of spacing making for easy reading and pleasant imaging. Each of the companies is allowed a full page or more allowing for quality promotional advertising that can be found in the bookshelves and desks of CEOs, procurement officers and Directors-General in government departments.
MODUS OPERANDI IN BRIEF
Each of the 15 city agencies (viz City Power, Joburg Water, City Parks, Joburg Roads Agency, Fresh Produce Market, Metrobus, Pikitup, etc) will nominate their best suppliers. Overall best suppliers in various categories of services and products will then be awarded certificates by the city mayor or manager in a glittering gala dinner event attended by decision makers in Government and Corporate SA.
DISTRIBUTION AND PRINT RUN
The initial print run will be 40 000 copies. The publication will be distributed through distribution partners and through normal bookshelf sales at CNA and Exclusive Books.
