AMAZING MARKETING & ADVERTISING MEDIUM: THE CAPE TOWN INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL ISSUE!

African ID Holdings (Pty) Ltd is producing a special Cape Town International Jazz Festival Issue of African ID Lifestyle magazine. The issue was revealed on a recent interview on SABC International's "Business People of Africa" show. A recent press release that clearly encapsulates the concept is quoted below.

“African ID Holdings (Pty) Ltd, publishers of the Afrocentric bi-monthly African ID Lifestyle magazine are thrilled to announce that they are working on a special issue for The Cape Town International Jazz Festival which runs from the 27th to the 30th of March 2008. Speaking on SABC International’s “Business People of Africa” show on the 13th of February 2008, Editor Themba Nkala, expressed absolute exhilaration at the possibilities the project would create for advertisers and the various strategic partners to African ID Lifestyle.”

 – Press Release

The issue will have a deliberate increase in music content while not completely departing from the lifestyle bias it has grown to be known for. Features in the publication include one on ones with Rashid Lombard, Nkhensani Nkosi, Dr. Maya Angelou, Sergio Mendes & Kunle Ayo. A special report on State power & Fashion that looks at Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka's stunning outfits to the opening of parliament as well as a look at Southern Africa’s premier addresses Botswana’s Phakalane, Zimbabwe’s Borrowdale, South Africa’s Zimbali and Pezula. Winter collections by various designers on the continent will also be explored. Every reveler at this year’s festival will receive a copy.

This provides a great opportunity for advertisers to reach 33 000 middle to top class individuals, 70% of whom will be from Gauteng. Should you advertise you are assured of real extensive exposure very few publications can guarantee “at a time when many publications lie about their circulation figures.” A total of 33 000 copies of the envisaged 100 pager will be distributed. The issue will also be available on the African ID Lifestyle website for those lucky enough to be part of this celebration. Look out for your copy at Cape Jazz! We certainly will see you there.

Wanted to advertised but missed the boat?? It's not too late. You can advertise in the June/July issue which will also be distributed at a major festival in Johannesburg. Don't miss the boat the second time around! BOOK YOUR TODAY by sending an e-mail to pr@africanid.com or calling prudence on +27 011 836-8911

AMAZING NATURALS: GANG OF INSTRUMENTALS "GANGED IN FASHION!"

South African hit band, Gang of Instrumentals is an amazing trio of music prodigies on a mission to be the best. They are in studio working on their 3rd CD due for release in April and are about to embark on a tour of the USA where they are scheduled to perform at an international festival in Tennessee. I recently spent an afternoon with them conducting a fashion shoot which will form part of the celebratory Cape Town International Jazz Festival issue of African ID Lifestyle and what a blast the afternoon turned out to be. Needless to mention it, but they proved to be absolute naturals in front of the camera and way down to earth for a highly successful bunch of so called "celebrities." The fashion spreads entitled "Ganged in Fashion," will blow your mind away! I still can not get over the images from the shoot and know that the brands we worked with in the shoot, Fabiani, Cameroon, JJ Schoeman, Socrati, & Thomas  and Benno will be equally pleased with the outcome.

Styling was done by our own fashion guru, Stewart Mugwiji who has worked with brands like Zara International and Hilton Weiner amongst others. The brilliant camerawork was done by Ivok Studios in Hatfield, Pretoria.  Ensure you get your copy in time to ensure you too are "ganged in fashion" at this year's Cape Town International Jazz Festival.

CONGRATULATIONS TO AN AFRICAN ID LIFESTYLE FRIEND!: KIDJO WINS WELL-DESERVED GRAMMY AWARD.

I believe with all my heart that Angelique Kidjo is the ultimate definition of  African World Music. I guess that is why she was our very first African ID Lifestyle exclusive interview subject. There is really very few that can compare. She has been nominated many times over for a Grammy Award. Even Oprah Winfrey was moved by the force that is Angelique Kidjo when she featured her on her show earlier this decade. Clearly illustrating the amazing talent of this passionate music prodigy who has performed for world leaders and the less fortunate alike.

When the news came, my eyes watered, because I had repeatedly said if she did not get the "Award" this year all my hopes in the academy would be dashed. I came short of being a scratched record actually. Oops just gave away my age. In the award winning Djin Djin Angelique features, Alicia Keyes, Peter Gabrielle, Joss Stone, Josh Groban and Ziggy Marley. No doubt this line up speaks volumes about the influence Angelique has managed to garner in her adoptive home country of the USA.

Congratulations, Angelique, for a sterling piece of work in Djin Djin. The Award is well deserved!

A MUCH DESIRED ADDRESS: PHAKALANE GOLF ESTATE, GABORONE

Gaborone might not be the best city in the world to live in if you are into a fast cosmopolitan lifestyle but the breathe of fresh air and serenity of this city is enough to make me want to pack my bags and head towards this diamond rich capital in a country that is often mentioned amongst the very few "promising economies" on the continent. In this city with amazing contrasts between poor and rich, is an oasis of wealthy living very few can ignore. Well save for the fact that I have family living in this prestigious address , I still believe that Phakalane Estate is an investment gem you should consider. Owned by an enterprising Botswana family, The Magangs, the Estate has quickly become the symbol of wealth in Gaborone.

Situated 1,000 meters above sea level, Phakalane offers incredible views of the city of Gaborone and the mountains beyond. Houses here fetch as much as 6 million pula (US$ 1,2 million). A few international retirees are also turning to Botswana and Phakalane in particular as an investment destination of choice. With soaring real estate prices and high crime in South Africa, many are looking to retire in peaceful Botswana. Even British Member of Parliament Nigel Jones owns a retirement home in Phakalane.

A special report on Southern Africa's premier addresses, Botswana's Phakalane Estate, Zimbabwe's Borrowdale Brooke and South Africa's amazing Pezula Private Estate & Zimbali, will form part of the celebratory Cape Town International Jazz Festival issue of African ID Lifestyle. Ensure you get your copy!

ID BRAVO!: TSCHOPS SIPUKA IMPRESSES INDY PRO SERIES WINNING TEAM

Fast cars, race courses, cheering fans, roaring engines! If that is not adrenalin jerking for you, perhaps you need to meet a young man who is fast putting South Africa on the motor racing sport world map and potentially well on his way to Formula 1. Tschops  Sipuka is an engineer from Port Elizabeth who has competed in both touring and formula cars in South Africa, Asia and throughout Europe.

He has just returned from the USA where he was offered a test in an Indy car at Phoenix International Race way in the US for the Brian Stewart Racing Team where his abilities were applauded by all and sundry.  "I think he did awesome. Tschops was very impressive for a guy who had never seen an oval before. He was flat around Phoenix and running times that were comparable to the other guys there," said Stewart whose team has won two of the last three Indy Pro Series team championships.

This motor sport champ continues to be a torch bearer for a sport that many Africans, let alone those of colour, are kept out of, owing to lack of financial support. His achievements in the 10 years in the sport include being the first black South African champion in 2002, becoming the first driver in Polo Cup to win a title back to back in 2003, finishing overall first in the Engen Volkswagen Cup Championship in 2002 as well as racing at the Nurburgring Formula 1 Circuit in Germany in 2003. BRAVO!
